NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists
Annual Student Conference
Launched in 2021, NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists’ Student Conference is an all-virtual gathering designed to bring together student journalists with a passion for reporting on LGBTQ communities and identities.
A cornerstone of our mission at NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists is supporting and uplifting the next generation of journalists. The Student Conference is an opportunity for students and early-career journalists to learn from industry experts, connect with fellow student journalists, and explore the intersections of the media world and LGBTQ identities.
The multi-day event consists of illuminating and inclusive programming, featuring journalists and media professionals from newsrooms across the country. Students and early-career journalists participate in networking sessions, informational workshops and an Internship & Career Fair. Past sessions have covered everything from practical, skills-based training on networking and fine-tuning your resume, to broader discussions on navigating your identity in the workplace and improving your coverage of LGBTQ communities and identities.
