Washington, DC – The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association today announced a campaign to encourage allies to join and take part in its programs for members. This change, offering an Ally Membership for $75 a year, goes into effect in preparation for the organization’s 25th anniversary celebration later in 2015.
NLGJA continues to be the premiere network for LGBT media professionals and now will include everyone dedicated to the highest journalistic standards in the coverage of LGBT issues.
“Over our 25-year history, NLGJA has had countless individuals who have shown support of our mission,” said NLGJA Executive Director Adam Pawlus. “By adding this category, we can now bring those individuals into our membership fold. We look forward to expanding the NLGJA family. ”
The new Ally Membership includes anyone who believes in NLGJA’s mission but is not limited by professional affiliation. Those of you who are supporters of NLGJA’s mission but are NOT former, part-time journalists or hold media-related jobs, or qualify for any other membership category, can now take advantage of this special anniversary offering.
Ally members have access to various services and member rates for conferences, summits, conventions and events. It does not include the right to vote or run for office.
NLGJA’s anniversary will be celebrated at the Coming Home National Convention. Join old friends and new to celebrate 25 years of NLGJA at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero San Francisco, September 3-6. For more information, visit www.nlgja.org/2015.
