Michael R. Triplett, 48, of Virginia, passed away on Thursday. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Ervin W. Triplett. He is survived by his loving mother, Shirley Freitag Triplett; sister, Lisa T. Carter; brother-in-law, James Wilder Carter; niece, Megan Carter; nephew, Jimmy Carter; partner, John Squier; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Michael graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with degrees in Journalism, Political Science and Masters degree in Education. He received his law degree from the Washington School of Law at American University. In 2006, Michael received the National Press Club Award for Newsletter Journalism (analytical). Michael worked for BNA since 2000. Most recently as Assistant Managing Editor of the Daily Tax Report. He was Adjunct Professor at Washington School of Law at American University until April 2011. For the past two years, Michael served as the President of the congregation at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C. In August 2012, Michael was elected President of NLGJA after serving positions on the Board. He was a past member of the Washington Men's Camaraderie.
A memorial service will be held on February 2nd at 12 noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church; 4900 Connecticut Ave. NW; Washington, D.C. 20008. Visitation will be in the Church Baptistery from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Reception will follow the service during which friends may share memories of Mike.
