Newsroom Outreach Project

Through the Newsroom Outreach Project, NLGJA leaders visit local newsrooms for a one-on-one group training and discussion of LGBT coverage issues. In these professional settings, journalists speak candidly with their NLGJA peers about LGBT coverage questions and concerns.

Reception & Membership Outreach Booths at Industry Conventions

NLGJA's outreach at other industry events and conventions diversifies our membership and builds a bridge between sister journalism organizations. NLGJA not only hosts expo booths and receptions to encourage networking, but also panels exploring the intersection of LGBT coverage issues with the missions and causes of other organizations. Conventions attended include the Asian American Journalists Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Stylebook Supplement on LGBT Terminology

NLGJA's Stylebook Supplement on LGBT Terminology, written by journalists for journalists, is a resource that educates journalists on the terms best used when reporting on the LGBT community. The combined English and Spanish-language version of this premiere resource is used by media professionals year-round.
