Regardless of what happens next in the ongoing debate concerning marriage rights for same-sex couples, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 will forever be a significant date in the history of the LGBT community. Just hours after May 15's historic California Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage, host Eric Jansen spoke with Kate Kendell of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, San Francisco Deputy City Attorney Therese Stewart (who argued the case in court), and lead plaintiffs who thought they were married four years ago. California LGBT Media Consortium
While the name is unofficial, this virtual newsroom includes some of the top names in LGBT media. Starting on Monday, June 16, and running until the end of the day on Tuesday, June 17, the group will offer free pictures for use in newspapers, blogs and Web sites. The consortium includes: Cynthia Laird, News Editor, Bay Area Reporter; San Diego-based freelance syndicated journalist and photographer Rex Wockner; Mona DeCrinis, News Editor, Palm Springs Bottom Line; Denise Penn, News Editor, The Lesbian News; and Karen Ocamb, News Editor, IN Los Angeles and Frontiers magazines.
