NLGJA
Helps Gulf Coast Members in Need
NLGJA's Louisiana Chapter is one of the most active in the organization,
and Hurricane Katrina directly affected many of its members. Some
lost their homes, possessions and pets. Several have been displaced
to other parts of the country.
To help members in need, NLGJA created a hurricane
relief fund. Thanks to generous contributions
from individual members and local
chapters, the fund gave cash grants
to several members within weeks after
the hurricane hit. Successful fundraising
during "Out
in the Heartland," NLGJA's 15th Anniversary Celebration & Convention
in Chicago, has allowed us to continue
providing financial assistance.
For more information on the fund, contact coordinator and National
Board Member Randy Dotinga.
Also consider contributing to the Friends of the Times-Picayune,
which is collecting donations for employees of the New Orleans
Times-Picayune who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Click

Louisiana
Chapter President Keith Darcé,
Reporter for the Times-Picayune,
welcomes all to visit his blog to read his
first person account of the destruction
Katrina left behind and the incredible
story of the Times-Picayune continuing
to report and publish during this
disaster. Click here to visit his blog.
