Did You Know?
You can use NLGJA’s online membership directory to:
- Locate friends and colleagues.
- Make contact with members at a potential employer.
- Search by beat to contact members about potential sources.
- Find members in an area you are moving to or visiting.
Logging In
Visit the NLGJA homepage and find the login fields in the left column. Log into the members only section by using your username and password. Your username is the first letter of your first name followed by your entire last name. Your password is your NLGJA membership ID number printed on your membership card.
Directory Search Options
View All
You will be able to see basic information for each member. Click on “view profile” to view all of the information listed for that member.
Simple Search
A simple search allows you to type in a name or word. You can also do a simple search by media category, such as newspaper (daily), state, city or e-mail address. If you want to search by beat, use the following codes:
- ARTS arts
- BIZ business
- BOOKS books
- COLUM columnist
- CRIME crime/courts
- EDU education
- ENT entertainment
- FEAT features
- FOOD food
- GEN general assignment
- HEA health
- HOME home and garden
- INT international
- LAW law
- LGBT lgbt

- MEDIA media

- MIN minority affairs
- MONEY money
- MOVIE movie
- MUSIC music
- NAT nation
- NOT not applicable

Advanced Search
An advanced search allows a user to select multiple fields at one time. You can choose up to three fields at one time to search by. And you can further filter your search by state and media category.
Updating & Editing Your Profile
You can edit your information in the directory by clicking on “My Membership Directory Profile.” If there is information you would like hidden, click on the gray box located to the left of the field you wish to hide. You can also click on “renew my membership” to pre-populate NLGJA's membership form with your data.
