NLGJA is a national organization with a local face.

Hundreds of faces actually — the faces of journalists, educators and writers across the country working to encourage fair and accurate news media coverage of LGBT individuals and their issues. Through their hard work and dedication, NLGJA’s members promote the organization by bringing our mission into newsrooms and journalism classrooms across the country.

Just as critical, our members, friends and donors support the organization with financial contributions that sustain NLGJA’s ongoing education and outreach programs throughout the year. Your gift to NLGJA means another student gets to participate in our annual Student Projects, another newsroom can participate in the Newsroom Outreach Project and another member will benefit from the news and information in the award-winning NLGJA Outlook newsmagazine.

Whatever your gift — $5 or $50 or $500 — your contribution sends the message that you believe in the critical importance of fair and accurate media coverage of the LGBT individuals, our issues and our community.

NLGJA Scholarship Fund

The NLGJA Scholarship Fund is an endowment created to provide academic scholarships to students committed to NLGJA’s mission of fair and accurate coverage of the LGBT community.

Under the direction of the Advisory Board of the Leroy F. Aarons Journalism Education Program, NLGJA will annually award an LGBT journalism student with a scholarship to cover the tuition costs of their journalism or mass communications program.

One of the most important goals of NLGJA is to educate and mentor the next generation of journalists, and your donation will allow our scholarship recipients to have the most enriching experience possible.
